Being in alignment is knowing when to act and when to sit still.
You know the proper course of action for yourself by how it makes you feel. We’re both receptive and initiative beings, and honoring each energy—when appropriate—allows us to settle into ourselves.
We do this by learning to identify what actually feels good in our minds and bodies, by developing the radical honesty necessary to be a clear channel for our own truth, and by taking note of where shame is stealing from us the enjoyment of our decisions.
It can be easy to ignore the heart, or do the thing we know is aligned but then guilt ourselves all the while for being say, less productive, as a result of the choice that was made. This is fear programming—FOMO on steroids.
Alignment requires a re-thinking of the way society dictates we move through the world. It’s been life-changing to aim for the mastery of scheduled free time, and play.
Developing one’s intuition and innate knowing of Self is so much less about fixing something that’s broken than it is about scrubbing the mind of the thoughts and narratives that prevent the light that shines through from being properly appreciated.
Often, we know exactly what we need but self-abandon in an effort to meet expectations (both external and of our own making!), and the result is resentment. Alternately, we show up for ourselves but wonder all the while if we’re somehow wrong for prioritizing our well-being over our seeming productivity.
This seemingness, that word is key; rest IS incredibly productive. Slowing down is strategic. Embracing the gifts of receptivity is enriching.
If you’re struggling to feel pleasure due to schedule pressures, are feeling resentment about how your life is unfolding, or feel guilty every time you put yourself first, it’s a sign to look within for a richer truth about who you are.
Life is challenging AND: it’s meant to feel good.
