The more you crave control, the more certain it is you’ll miss one of life’s greatest lessons: how to thrive—joyfully—even in the midst of seeming powerlessness.
Our survival depends on remembering that we can effect the greatest change not by effort, but by honoring ourselves and the innate will to bring forth that unique version of God residing within each of us.
So how do we do this? How do we midwife into the world the creations that exist within without turning to the old tools of domination and submission? How do we move from forcing the external to honoring the internal?
Surrender, whispers Source.
Most of us carry the deep desire to want for nothing… but we allow ourselves to be tricked into thinking we can only want nothing once we have everything. In truth, all we have to do is go to the place where nothing is wanted, the place that exists within in us unblemished and uneroded by the gnashing and cyclical forces of our external reality—
and that place is peace.
Peace isn’t earned and it’s not built on conditions. Peace is endogenous to us—arising naturally from the choice to know that all is well and to understand that nothing more is needed
To make yourself available to love, or money, or peace is different than going looking for it. When you look, you’re attached to finding. When you allow, you’re attached to nothing.
This is the paradox: thought—our most powerful creative tool—can also be the biggest block to our own manifestations because when we try to think our way into alignment, we close the door to accessing those deeper spaces quantumly connected to the fulfillment and completion that already exists—the spaces where peace lives and which we access through prayer, meditation, a walk in the woods, or a heartfelt conversation.
The problem is, we all want to feel good—and good like right now. Too often, the easiest shortcut is to feel “better than” someone else—physically, intellectually, morally. But that’s not peace, that’s projection and distortion, the definition of forcing the external into narratives convenient for the ego but disconnected from deeper truth, and goodness.
You have access to feeling good—anytime, anywhere—not because of your standing relative to anyone else or what you’ve accomplished or because you’ve worked hard and now you deserve it, but because peace lives inside of you. Peace is you.
Peace doesn’t come from control or from thoughts lining up “just right” to cocoon you in a coffin of safety and predictability. There is no neat cause and effect when it comes to peace. Peace is spontaneous. It is infinite. It is always available.
We don’t create it—we let it. Because it is who we are and what we be, underneath it all.
Problems will always exist—after all, desire is the nature of our created world and a divine seed planted within us—but whether we allow ourselves to obsess over what we lack and what is “going wrong” is another matter and completely our choice.
And here’s the miracle: the more we allow peace RIGHT NOW, regardless of the circumstances of the hardship, the more our problems either dissolve or lose their power over us. Peace is the rainbow, not the pot of gold you arrive at if you can find its end. It’s both the journey and the destination.
And that? That is THE solution. Not more efforting, or thinking, or doing.
Because problems disappearing and their power over us dissolving is, in the end, the same thing. And a reminder that we’re not so powerless, after all…
